The spacial layering reveals the elasticity of the material while maintaining the fact that a roof can be made of fabric. The cost of creating a roof nearly this complicated would be unbuildable with any of the current conventional roofing materials.
The translucency of the 17,900 sq. ft of PTFE-coated fiberglass membranes provides luminous, natural light while keeping temperatures 25 to 30 degrees cooler during the day. Designing buildable and cost efficient details lead to an installation time of only 10 weeks.
